That you can buy a heavy processed, manufactured product with lots of ingredients and man hours invested in it for less than a bit of veg that grows down the road is enough for me to question the whole meat industry. It may not be for you, but it is for me.

My apologies, I thought people would understand my view but I see I need to explain in more detail.

Cats eat meat. You have to slaughter animals so your cat can eat. Your cat also kills many local indigenous animals (in fact, the average cat will kill several animals every day). So if you are so against the slaughtering of animals. Why own an animal thats not indigenous to the area, why slaughter animals to keep a mass murdering exotic animal alive?

Vegetarians argue that you dont need meat to survive. Well Im arguing that you dont need a cat to survive either. If there is a moral issue with slaughtering animals then a cat would be a hypocritical animal to own.

Am I more clear now?

Let's make it easier for Ghoti. I don't want to kill animals or to have animals to die for my stomach, but I have a cat. i don't want to affect my cat's diet and i love my cat, so i feed my cat proper nutritional food and stick to my own sad, lonely, tasteless, vegan lifestyle because it is my free will and choice and not something the DA has taken away yet.

if people want to be vegan, that is their choice, and i wish it was easier for them. maybe i'll be vegan too if i'm ever on an island and have to slaughter my pet cow that i've grown attached to

Sure you are more clear now, in my experience the argument that you dont need to eat meat to survive is the argument a minority of vegetarians would use. Also for that argument to gel, you would have to assume that those who do use this argument do in fact own carnivorous pets.

I would say the majority of vegetarians don't eat meat for environmental reasons or because they love animals and they feel bad about eating them. There is also the religious aspect.

I don't get the point you're trying to make. if you're argument is meat = good, nom nom nom, why don't you and your family eat your pet dog? it is meat after all? it's the same circular logic, you misrepresent their position and we misrepresent yours based on the desired outcome. if i do not eat meat, that does not mean my pets cannot eat meat

I don't mind people hunting or killing animals for food (if it's done properly) but I don't like the taste or smell of meat, so the selection of meat I'm willing to eat is limited.
My cat is fat and healthy eating dry cat food and if she wants to hunt, that is her business. I love animals more than I love humans and I'd do anything to protect my little baby but my #1 reason for not liking meat is not a moral one.
