Renewed mine this morning at the post office. Was number 3 in the queue and only 1 other person behind me.
Sure there’s a lot wrong going on in the country but let’s not turn ourselves into a nation of moaners

Did mine via e-service again.
Applied on the 1st Dec.
Got the email with how much to pay into what account on the 19th.
Made payment via internet banking.
Got new disc on the 4th Jan.

I did the very same over a month ago via eservices
I'm still waiting for my new disc.

oh dear and here i thought i was extended.

how wrong i was.

is there a faster way for capetonians?
Try the CT e-Services portal https://eservices.capetown.gov.za/irj/portal.

I used it for the first time last year when the initial lock-down started. The first application went nowhere, but when I did it a second time I received payment details very quickly. Then it was about a two week wait for them to post it to you. Once you've made the payment you can then use that as proof of validity. We did this while waiting for the license disc to be posted, although we didn't need to resort to using the POP.

I did my vehicle license yesterday through FNB so will see how long it takes. R199 "convenience fee" and gets couriered.
So far so good, it's been printed and courier will collect for delivery next

Most of the larger centra have professional motor vehicle registration and license renewal services serving the motor dealers . I gave my E-natis renewal notices to a dealer principal friend of mine and 2 days later got a phone call from a lady to meet her in the Game center parking lot to collect my renewed licenses. It cost me R50 per license extra which considering not having to que I think is a bargen.

Where do they say that the PoP can be used as proof of validity?

They don't, as such. I really don't think that a court or traffic officer is going to argue that you don't have sufficient evidence to prove you have already paid the license and that you're waiting on actual disc to be sent to you.

Thanks, they only sent the payment ref details last week, finally after 6 weeks! I'll EFT them tomorrow but then they warn it may take 30 working days for the new disc to arrive. My disc expired on 31 Jan, so after the 22 days grace period I'll have to be careful where I park my car, or start driving my old man's car instead!

Downloaded my trailers form from enatis on Friday and printed it, stood in queue of 5 people Saturday morning at the local Post Office and renewed it (paying by card) for the amount as shown on the notification.

Which post office was that? The ones around here only accept cash.
Got a link to the enatis site?

Follow up on my licence renewal.

Today 8 weeks after finally getting to renew my licence, I joined the queue to collect my new card at Centurion today.

The process involves standing in a queue in the hot sun for hours on end. No shade, no benches to sit on, no chance to collect in person.

An "official" finally appears moves down the queue collects the ONLY proof you have, disappears inside, and then after about 40 minutes, appears with a pile of your cards, which you now have to collect and signed for.

Shouting out names to all those milling around. Social distancing is just a farce. If you are lucky enough, you hear your name being yelled out by someone who barely knows how to speak English.

The second worst "super spreader event" I have had the misfortune to being forced to attend.

Thankfully, this stupid process is now over for another 5 years.
