I have a small patch about the size of my palm on the headliner above the passenger seat that is just beginning to sag.

What is the best early action to take here? Don't want it to spread.

Rip it out and get a reputable automotive upholsterer to redo.

You can try make a small hole and spray in some clear spray adhesive. But once it starts going its probably better to just redo the liner.

And you then keep doing that when the next section sags and eventually end up with Swiss cheese for a headliner..

Same boat unfortunately. Whole roof liner has sagged. Phoned around. Got quotes from R1,600 to R2,800 (McCarthy Auto Trimmers).

McCarthy auto trimmers quoted me a ridiculous amount. Can't remember how much.
Had it done by a guy in Goodwood. Came recommended. Dinesh auto trimmers I think.

Paid far less. Sorry can't remember figures.

As others have said, and auto trimmer is the only way to go.

Depending on the car type, especially some older hatchbacks, this can be d.i.y'd for pretty cheap.. just need a can of spray on contact adhesive and your new material, or even existing material, assuming you can get it off in one piece..

Did my astra f hatch myself for peanuts..
