Victim's Wife Stabs Burglar - One Unlucky Guy!

A man who lives in a security complex with automated gates within Geneva Close in Muizenberg awoke at 04.40am this morning to find a black male intruder in his home.

He was stabbed repeatedly with a knife and while he was trying to fight back the victim’s wife who heard the commotion came down the stairs and used one of her kitchen knives to stab the intruder in the back.

The intruder fled the scene with the knife in his back and was followed by a neighbour who was awakened by the noise and rushed to help.
The neighbour spotted the intruder in Albertyn Road and rode over him with his car but the intruder got up and fled again.

The black male intruder is still at large and he was seen to be wearing a Green type Nato jacket, black pants and a green peak cap.

This guy was my next door neighbour. He also broke into my girlfriends car and stole a two six packs of Tafel Lagers from us

Personally, this is the first time I have had an attack so close to home, and it has left me a little shell shocked. I checked my garage door in the morning, which is locked from the inside, and it had been pulled at - it could well have been me

At any rate, I have got myself a big brass sword, which I keep beside my bed, and am going to Trellidor my back door today. Our complex is also contemplating an electric fence. Also, I am now seriously contempating joining the police reserves. The only people who are going to make a difference fighting crime are us, the citizens of the country.

Though I slept through the whole thing , I must congratulate my neighbour and his wife for their extreme courage, and thank the other neighbours for coming out in support so quickly. It is really nice to know that I live in a complex of people who care!

Incidentally, my neighbour returned home yesterday, and looked OK - probably in a sever state of shock.

BTW, when the buglar entered, he put a knife in each room, to ensure that he could easily rearm.

About ten years ago our neighbours in our complex were away and their house was ransacked. My dad had played Red Alert through the whole ordeal even though he was just a few meters away. Shows how absorbing a late night gaming session can be.

Great News, man was arrested.

From People's Post (Muizenberg Community Newspaper):

A 19-year old Vrygrond man was arrested for the attempted mruder of a Muizenberg resident afeter breaking into his home and stabbing him on Sunday

According to Inspector Clifford Wyeth of the Muizenberg Police, the man broke into the home, located in a security complex, at around 04:40. Upon investigating the noise, the owner of the home was attacked by the suspect.

"In the ensuing scuffle the suspect proceded to stab the victim several times in the chest. The victims wife, who heard the commotion stabbed the suspect in the back with a kitchen knife. The suspect fled the scene with the knife still in his back," Wyeth says.

A neighbour who rushed to the couple's aid tracked the suspect in Albertyn road and bumped over him with his car.

"The suspect, however, got up and fled. He was arrested on Sunday afternoon by Detective Inspector Drake and Detective Constable Nakane after seeking treatment at the Retreat Day hospital." Wyeth Says

"He is currently under police guard at the Victoria Hospital in Wynberg and we have his bloodied jacket as well as the knife he allegedly used in the incident as evidence."

The suspect already had a suspended sentence for housebreaking against his name, according to Wyeth and the victim is currently being treated for multiple stab wounds.

Congratulations to our Police for arresting the man especially Inspector Drake. After all the bad news we hear about the police, it is nice to know that they are still doing their job.
