Hang in there a while buddy. I have got exactly the same problem, but I am working on it. It looks like nero recode will be up to the job.

Things to remember:

Mp4 is better
240 x 320 size
h.263 codec is the highest supported codec
AAC for audio

When watching a movie from the phone memory:

250 kb/s combined bitrate

When watching from a pro duo card:

415 kb/s combined bitrate.

I will tell you how to do it as soon as I get it working perfect, and I will do all this by available freeware, or open source.

Ps: I got a mp4 music video on limewire, something by linkin park, and I was amazed......

thnx, i was amazed to.this phone's video capabilities is amazing. recode takes 4 ever to convert 700mb files, or maybe im doing sumthing wrong. i heard that on howard forums they are busy with a project for conversion. some home made software maybe?. anyway, ive searched the net over and over and cnt find a decent -anything to anything- converter. mpeg4 is nice, but i would like 3gp,for compatability with other phones.

Compatibility on other phones will be hard, since:
1: Screen size
2: Fps (looks like 30 if you use 3gp, and 15 for mp4)
3: bitrate
4: filesize
5: Hmmmmm.......?

I get to watch about 6 hrs of movie on a full charge, and at the moment I use the trial of the ulead video studio10 that came with this months PC Format *spit* to recode the files. I think it takes a bit longer to recode from avi to mp4, that it takes to recode from mpg to mp4. I recode the recordings from my HTPC.

I normally save funny video clips onto my SD card as MPEGs (i-mate jam) but never tried putting a movie on.. nicer to watch it on me 19" CRT :)
