Video game endings that let us down

Assassin's Creed reality aminus **** ruins the whole franchise for me. You'll be having the time of your life playing that game and then this crap happens.

Another let down was Red Dead Redemption. You play the whole game (which was fantastic btw) as this cowboy which you grow to love. The story is good and even when you ate killed at the end all is good. But the game should've ended there and not carried on with you having to play his stupid kid (and all those happy farm missions from the time you are reconciled with your family up to the point where you die should've been skipped as well IMHO)

Xenonauts is a good example, very much like XCOM games, but once the game is over, it's 2 or 3 images and bam, done.
Back in the day, games used to last forever (we talking all genres of games) and the endings made the games worth it... like giving closure (almost like relationships)
Now, the story is BS and the endings are just as bad.
That's why it's hard for me to find games that 'grab' me... I buy games all the time but nothing keeps me going for longer than 5 minutes anymore except maybe Diablo 3 and Battlefield 4/3
Everything else... *spit*

I've actually decided to basically stop buying games now - simply because I can spend R300 on a game, get it, play it 5 minutes and never play it again.
I have like what, 150 games on Steam, I only have 3 installed now and that's the Trackmania 2 games.
It's sad, honestly.

Medal of honour. 4.5 hours gameplay and then bam! Nothing.

I agree with the Crysis ending, ruined the game completely!

Horrible final boss (even more so than the earlier ones) and the endings isn't based on your actions during the course of the game. You just press one of four buttons and each of them gives a slideshow of real life images with a different voiceover by the main character. And I think it may have been the same slideshow for all 4 of them.

So Duke kills the Alien Queen, then as promised - rips of its head and takes a dump down its throat. But then he doesn't wipe?
That's disgusting!

Also, Far Cry 3, as awesome as the game was, the ending could have been better.

3 year old thread, and nobody mentioned Mass Effect 3 - the game which has become the poster child for bad endings?

The worst ending in the history of gaming must go to Bioshock Infinite – it took a simple, uncomplicated storyline and set it on fire

:wtf:

Vanquish, AC 2 and especially Deus Ex: HR.

If only you played Metal Gear Solid 5, Tomb Raider reboot and Borderlands 1 at the time. Your list would be different.

MGS - That twist and the cut content was bs
TR reboot - Expected a proper boss fight but just faced more goons and QTE
Borderlands 1 - Screw that vagina with teeth.

I've just acquired the trilogy. You're telling to me to stop before I start?
No play it, one of the best trilogies ever. The journey was amazing, just the ending especially pre-DLC was a bit sucky...

I don't really get let down by video game endings, because I don't expect much from their stories. If a game sticks the landing it's great and all but I mean, whatever.
