Black communities are already doing things for themselves.

Black communities in poor rural areas don't receive municipal services from government. They crowdffund their own small projects with the meagre income they make.
It will still be pointed out that it is only 50% of what he said.
And it is only 50%.
"build things and not burn things."

And i dont disagree with you.

Incredible efforts in spite of! any idea what party is in the majority in these areas?

Clearly people still have spare cash. Raise taxes in order to build more fire pools.

For what it is worth I think the community has done a great job and communities should be empowered to "look after themselves", spending money wisely rather than on layers of consultants and contractors who need BEE, CPG, CSD, CIDB alphabet soup, all adding costs.

BUT, not all communities are the same. One project I am involved in, the "community" has threatened mayhem (they have closed the site twice), one of their gripes being that "they" want a road built, well fixed after the recent rains. The road will serve two houses, built before there were any roads and will cost around R1m to get to gravel surfacing. Zero effort from their side.

People are going to have to start doing this more often. Municipalities and government don't care and aren't doing much of anything.

It's hard to raise this amount of money for many communities. However, they do handle smaller projects such as boreholes, litter, subsistence farming, etc.

It is bad when the National Government no longer has R135k to help build a bridge. Whether this will be a s**t or dangerous bridge is irrelevant, at least something gets done.

That's because it will cost the national government 13 500 000 million to build the same bridge at worse quality
