Violence in large township frustrates Vumatel rollout

Crime and violence over the past few weeks have derailed some of fibre network operator (FNO) Vumatel's network rollout and maintenance plans in Khayelitsha in the Western Cape.

MyBroadband has been monitoring Afrihost's network status page for a while after noticing this particular issue had remained on the website for a prolonged period.
 
Eish... You must be brave to do business there. Clearly there is money to be made. So all good in sunny Africa.
 
Why even bother giving it to them if they clearly dont want it, only in SA can you try offer certain people a better product and they behave like this. Just retract the offer and dont give it to them, simple and you save money.

The only way you guys would be able to overcome the current problem in my township (khayelitsha)... Ya'll needs to school & the employ us!!!!

You can't have African personell driving around khayelitsha earning numerous amounts of rands whilst we are sitting on the street corner with nothing to do, what did you think what's gonna happen, they will get robbed all the time, Im surprised that I haven't heard of any hijacking of your guys!

Moral of the story, If you let us build we won't destroy, employ us in numbers then see what happens.
I mean, we were not even given a single chance as you technical staff, **** & most of them are from outside south Africa, gees....!
& after employing us, you give us a South African supervisor who speaks the vernacular, as I don't & won't wanna be told what to do by some guy that comes from ***** speaking in a language I that I never even learnt from school!!!!!!

IF YOU WANNA START SOMETHING AT ANY TOWNSHIP, INCLUDE THE PEOPLE OF THAT TOWNSHIP!!!!!!

I know for a fact that I may sound like I really have no idea of what's happening..... Well, I'm fully aware trust me!!! & the advice I just gave you, will/should be the start in solving this super Problem you have!!!
Unemployment is hitting the heavens, everyone is hungry remember that!!!

After reading, a few comments: None of ya'll are from any townships, one member asks that if they don't want it why give it to them..... & my answer to you my cuzz even though you may refer to us as non paying communities, most money is made from black township people, to prove that Switch Off this Vuma tell thing off for one month & watch how much money will be lost!!!!

Why are you so special? None of the other areas that have nice things now demanded this.
 
The world does not always play fair. Make the most of what's available, do not be so short sighted to cut your nose off to spite your face. Focus on building instead of destroying. Hope my vernacular is clear

And how long do you think it will take to train these people? And then the next lot of people also want to be included and the next, and the next, it's not sustainable.

It doesn’t take long to learn to dig a trench.
To the OP’s point, Vuma uses cheap foreign labour to dig trenches while unemployed locals are overlooked.
Just saying.
