To be fair, in a country where 80% of the population is black and only 8% is white, it is a bit odd to have only white entrepreneurs in the picture. Your Oprah example is not so odd, given the population demographics.
Up until about the mid 1800s, 100% of the inhabitants of the old OFS, Transvaal & Natal were black and there were no entrepreneurs of any sort; the sole occupation of each chief revolved around raiding his neighbours and seizing their cattle and women.
Even today, nearly two centuries later, the only indications of entrepreneurship are the increasing attacks (and looting) on farms, trucks, businesses, and private property which are ultimately destroyed. A glance at the long list of failed businesses and farms provides ample evidence that blacks are not serious about entrepreneurship in the European sense but are only interested in stripping all the assets and moving on to the next target.
The inescapable conclusion must be that European style entrepreneurship before colonization was beyond the abilities of the local people and, post colonization, the European concept still conflicts with the cultural need for raiding and plunder.
In the same vein, I can understand why Zuma insists that he did nothing wrong because, as the chief, he was able to take anything he fancied while lesser beings had to follow orders.
