Was just looking at the Virgin Mobile website and they have a whole section on the side offering "GREAT DEALS" like a Nokia N91 for R100/pm.

However when you actually click on it to get the details:

Mix mobile with hi-fidelity sound and you get the Nokia N91. Pay it off for less than R200 a month on a V100 Plan.

Monthly Charges
Monthly Phone Plan installments over 24 months = R225.83 p/m
V100 Plan minimum monthly payment = R100.00 p/m
(This is the minimum payment for airtime. If you use less it will be rolled over. If you use more your bill will reflect the additional charges you've incurred).

Minimum total due is R325.83 per month

(Remember you'll have to pay R89 for your access pack upfront.)

Quite a jump from R100 to R325.83, much worse than the other networks that don't include itemised billing etc. Even on the 2nd page above it says pay it off for less than R200 a month when the installments are R225.83.

Just doesn't seem like very accurate advertising.

Wow it must suck to have your sites published on this forum with google adsense publishers lurking. Blatant TOC violations on both those sites and most probably Offerforge violations as well.

How long do you think the ads will stay now?

guys i wouldnt use birgin if you payed me

i thought they where coming to make a difference give us way better rates

but all they are doing is raping us like the other 3

easy money here in SA

for that kinda of money you can a vodacom contract with that phone 120 minutes

they not cheaper thats for sure

I think what you guy are missing is that you get the phone at that price with one of thier packages.

They dont try lure you with a "free phone" they can however sell you one at R100 per month with one of thier deals.

Except for the 50c/MB, there's nothing special from VM. What VM has done is to make the public aware that the so-called "free phones" on contract are not free afterall but they're not providing us with better deals.

And their Call Rates are so flipping expensive. I'm gonna buy a VC sim strictly for calls after 8pm. I can't afford to pay R15 for my first 5 mins of calls everyday (even after 8pm), it sucks.

Wake up VM.

Ad now changed....

Just that it is the other way around - you can get a phone at (for example a N91) R225.83 p/m with their V100 package which costs R100p/m. The banner ad said N91 for only R100 p/m which is not the case! That is false advertising in my books! All a moot point now cause I see that VM has changed the ad to reflect the actual price for the phone, so Syndyre, perhaps it does help to complain! Good one! Chalk another one up to the forum! :D

Virgin must come up with better Call Rates or else they shouldn't be hopefull of the Number Portibility bill.

if they keep their call rates so high, they will have a sutuation whereby there's 2 million active subscribers on their network with 1.8 million of them using only the internet. LOL

I'm gonna give them just 3 months, and if they don't come up with better call rates, i'm afraid but i'm gonna have to take a Voda contract and use the VM sim card for internet only.

Funny how no one realized why it was changed and why the other ads weren't "misleading". Zax, with no representative on the forum I am certain they didn't even read this thread. The ad was taken off because it was an error.

I like their one rate for all times and all networks system. I really hope they don't change it. I don't want to wait until 8pm to make all the calls that I can only make during the day. The off-peak rates are the biggest scam yet keeping the peak rates high.
