Virgin Mobile SA enters business rescue

Virgin Mobile South Africa. the longstanding mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) that runs on Cell C's network, has entered business rescue.

In response to questions from MyBroadband, Virgin Mobile SA confirmed that it has begun a voluntary business rescue process, stating that its vulnerable financial position could not bear the demands of the COVID-19 pandemic.

honestly, we have so many MVNO's, its actually quite insane
did we actually need yet another one?

all of them are on cell c, so essentially they all run on MTN then?

Do not blame Covid, Covid boosted every single mobile operator, this has been the best time for SPs and NOs in history.

Virgin Mobile was on life support 3 years ago already.
+1

I had no idea that they were still operating

Yeah I thought they were long gone.
They arent in business rescue because of covid, they are in business rescue because they are entirely obscure and no one wants to use them.

Are these guys still going? Haven't seen anything of them in ages.

If I'm not mistaken VM was the first true MVNO, and Cell C isn't running on MTN yet.
