Public Service Announcement
There has been a recent outbreak of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), necessitating the implementation of the following guidelines:
Mandatory wearing of N95 masks in schools and public hospitals, effective immediately.
RSV is transmitted via droplets, including sneezing, coughing, and saliva.
These measures will be enforced from May 9, 2024, until further notice.
Those particularly vulnerable to RSV include individuals with compromised immune systems, previously diagnosed chronic illnesses, individuals over the age of 19, children, infants, and those with long COVID. The first case of RSV was identified at Livingston Hospital in Gqergha.
Common symptoms encompass fever higher than 38.2°C, cough, fatigue, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, and body aches. If you suspect an infection, prompt evaluation at your nearest healthcare facility is recommended. Contagiousness persists for 5 to 7 days after incubation.
