VKOM 301USB - How to check balance on MTN prepaid

Hi

Got the above modem and MTN sim (Midrand's coverage on any other network SUCKS) but I cannot find a way to check the data balance. Removing the sim from my BB to check balance on the new sim is a pain. Apart from boot time, I have to log back in to all my social networks (I have many linked) which irritates the hell out of me.

Does ANYONE have any suggestions for me, please?

What operating system are you using?

Does the dashboard allow sending of USSD strings / commands?

If so, send the USSD *141# via the dashboard and await the reply.

In fact, if it will help, post a snapshot of the dashboard screen.

can't you register the sim on mtn active - they've moved recently to something called mycontract.mtn or something like that.

No USSD or command screen is available. An SMS window pops up, but does not allow any of the MTN *141... commands etc. Ive tried

MTN Active is a website based portal that you can check the balance and update account details. It might work for the device.

Try downloading MDMA (links available here somewhere) and check if it supports your modem. If so, it can send USSD commands.
