I have used it since beta and bought it as soon as they announced there pre-release special.

It doesn't run windows software - it runs windows in its entirety but has a nifty feature called unity that allows you just to see the windows applications you are using as if they were native windows.

I have tried both fusion and parallels and I prefer fusion.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but didn't feel like starting a new one...

Must say, I downloaded v2 build 116369 and I must say i'm honestly loving it!

It gives you the options of either running your Windows partition side-by-side (You can assign how much RAM you want to use to run the Virtual Machine) or you can simply import your Windows partition onto your Mac HD and free up the drive.

Everything is currently running very smooth (even in full scree mode), but it definitely would run better with 4GB of RAM...

Anyone else using it here? What you think?

I found the importing current bootcamp partition to be exceptionally problematic, and would recommend to anyone to re do the installation and create a new Virtual machine. But i much prefer fusion over parallels, i especially like the server support for leopard and apparently snow leopard??

I absolutely love the "Unity" Function in Fusion. It basically hides the Windows GUI and opens all applications and windows on your Mac's desktop. Very very cool! Although Parallels has it's "Coherence" function which does more or less the same. I still prefer Fusion's one as it works better. :)

I've had the opportunity to play with both Parallels and Fusion both through Bootcamp installs and Virtual Machine installs and my final stay is with Fusion.

That unity function is absolutely unbelievable.. I only use Wind0z3 for 2 applications, and I can run those two applications as if they were mac apps ;) ;)

It would be a great tool for a technical support desk... :

"Hi Sir, what Operating System are you using so we can guide you through your problem? "

"uBuntu & Mac OS"

"Okay, allow me to boot them up quickly"

=) =)

Some people are running Windoze under Mac? What an insult ;-) If it is not designed for Mac (ok and Linux) its not worth using!

not really, there's a lot of useful apps made only for windows.

in a corporate enviroment vm's are especially useful if your standard client is windows based.

while i appreciate ur loyalty, its an extremely ignorant and downright dumb statement to make. I dont understand platform bashing, they each have their place, sure i favour certain platforms over others, but its better to try get things to work together than shoot yourself in the foot saying i wont use any windows apps cause windows sucks...

I completely agree with you, but lets be serious... Windows does really suck :D

The only reason I use windows is because they haven't yet developed Garmin software for mac yet....

Yeah I checked that quite impressed they have almost all the software available..

Not sure how i'm going to install the maps now, since the setup file is a .exe. Maybe there is a way of copying the map files across... Will play around..

I use Fusion 2.0 and it works great. Have not tried to migrate boot camp partition over yet, but it seems like an interesting feature.

Google Garmin Roadtrip, it runs native and you can move your maps over from Windows to Mac. It seems to work ok.

I used Parallels and haven't had any problems.
I used to use BootCamp, though grew tired of it and downloaded Parallels. It picked up that I had already made a partition called "BootCamp" and asked if it wanted to make the partition a virtual one. I said yes and in a few minutes it had made the change and haven't had a problem at all. Haven't tried Fushion so can't comment.

What does it have that Parallels doesn't?
