I do.

I love seeing them fight, gives them more incentive to compete with each other

Same here. Healthy to see these companies taking each other on…it will definitely spill into other areas.

Also quite enjoy watching those two have it out ... :D. It all seems rather civilised to me, get their reps in argue a little and that's that ... wonder if things ever get heated over at ASA?

I don't like either, in fact, but I have both, and thus far have experienced (better) service from Vodacom.

Give a question and possible answers...

How does the rivalry between MTN and Vodacom affect Joe Public?
  • It helps to reduce prices.
  • It speeds up the rollout of new technology.
  • It has no significant effect because like "professional" wrestling all moves are pre-scripted.
  • I couldn't care less [*yawn*]

Or you could go for the unofficial "I don't like Vodacom", "I don't like MTN" poll some people are punting:p

Dude, I saw teeth flying twice, one a whole 5 meters. I also saw Carlito get thrown into a REAL metal ladder and bending it, so it might be scripted but it still hurts lol

Official ASASA press statement

MTN to withdraw ambush marketing advert

The ASA has ordered MTN to withdraw a series of their print advertisement that appeared in the Sunday Times of 10 June 2007 following a competitor complaint from advertising agency FCB South Africa, on behalf of Vodacom. One of the advertisement is headed, “Turning young men into Bafana Bafana.” and also states, “MTN, proud sponsor of the MTN cup”.

Vodacom is the sponsor for the South African Football Association (SAFA) and of the men’s soccer team which is known as “Bafana Bafana”. The advertisement implies a connection between the MTN and Bafana Bafana, to which it is not entitled.

It is important for advertisers to note that there are a number of ambush marketing activities that are prohibited and that no organisation, other than an official sponsor, may directly or by implication create an impression that its communications relate to a specific event or create an impression that they are an official sponsor of the event.
