MTN SA spokesperson Jacqui O’Sullivan told MyBroadband that the South African telecommunications market is evolving, in line with global trends.

Jacqui should know, she worked for these cry babies.

Vodacom dismissed Telkom’s argument, saying the South African mobile market has a healthy level of competition.

I do agree with Vodacom on this one. Issue is, Cell C and Telkom have not come forth with something new... most of their deals are not far off from Vodacom and MTN. That, and their network quality (especially Cell C) is not up to scratch.

What? Telkom and Cell C R10/GB. Vodacom and MTN over R100/GB. But for some reason Vodacom and MTN still remain entrenched.

Just to let anybody know, Vodacom is not a charity, it is a business that needs to make money to stay afloat. Nobody is going to hand them any money as a sign of appreciation for the service they deliver to their customers.

We know that. But in which functioning environment can you charge over times more than your competitors? Something fundamental is broken.
