I wonder if MTN will also defend them? This, as well as other articles I've read are making this Knott-Craig chap look like another $izwe to me..

Dominance in a competitive industry reflects excellence,” he said. “One who comes first should not be punished for doing well. If you abuse dominance, then you should be dealt with.”

Ahem

ITS NOT A COMPETITIVE INDUSTRY. Telkom DOES abuse its dominance (read monopoly), by adopting insane pricing models and that is why its being penalised.

*sigh*

Cell Phone Costs are Exorbitant as well.

Well Vodacom had better mind their P's and Q's.

I have been considering dumping them, because of their pricing structure.
The Cell Phone Giants in South Africa are on the same wavelength as Telkom.

If I have time next week, I am going to start shopping around.
Any suggestions?
I only use my Cell Phone if I go out in the evenings, holidays or if I have to phone someone, because I cannot get them on a land line. Averages of one call a day perhaps.
At the moment I have a For U contract with Vodacom, which is the same as buying airtime, just that you pay monthly by debit order. I needed this to enable twin call as I have a built in cell phone kit in my car.

Basically I don’t use my Cell Phone as it simply works out too expensive.
The day I can pick up the phone or cell phone in South Africa without having to sub-consciously worry about talking too long and ringing up a fat bill would be a good day. Hope it will happen before I am in the ground though.

would somebody please inform these a$$wipes that telkom is NOT operating in a competitive industry. wired adsl and wireless broadband are two different things for crying out loud. how did these retards come to hold such high ranking positions within their companies is beyond me

vodacom supporting telkom is basically a kid supporting it's parrent ...

We should be weary ... just now vodacom is going to come out and say that they, MTN and Cell C have a estabilished a good level of competition in the cellular market ...

They're siding with them because they know they're next. :p
Hmm. Perhaps you are right.
It is about time ICASA did something about these Cell Phone Companies.

ROFLOL.. Nice one! I wonder if he will take his comments back when 50 000 Vodacom accounts get terminated in favour of MTN

EDIT:
“To say that everyone should have a telephone is no more extraordinary than saying that people should have access to water. A phone helps people to enter the economy. It provides them with a means of being contacted.”
I guess he means a Cell phone right not a normal telephone that most cant afford anyway right now because of telkoms pricing.
