Vodacom BIS and Whatsapp issues - Prepaid

Hi. I'm using a BB 9720 (updated to the last available update) and for the last week or so I've been having difficulty with Whatsapp. It refuses to download any media except for the absolute smallest voice recordings. It always give the error "unable to download content. Connection could not be opened". But my BIS is active and I've got full signal and a whole bunch of battery life to boot! And to top it off, I can't update to the latest Whatsapp because the download always fails if I do it via the app itself and cancels if I do it via the browser. Another thing that I think is highly weird, my BIS for October "expired" on the 24th, yet on the 25th I still had BIS, and I had no airtime for it to have automatically taken airtime. So I quickly recharged and thought I was safe, but now its 3 days later and I still have BIS and I still have the recharged airtime! If the Whatsapp problem had started on saturday I would have thought the 2 were connected, but that started about a week before. I also have this "other" data which shows up under my storage, but I can't find it anywhere to delete it! I know on my Samsung, it was thumbnails of practically every pic I had every had on the phone, so that was the first thing I looked for, but I can't find it anywhere under the hidden files! This data is taking up about half my phone memory!

Please can someone help me figure out this mess without having to do a complete factory reset!

Are you sure you aren't being being shaped or throttled? Can you do anything else on the internet besides downloading?

Hmm, remove the battery? Why didn't I thi... Yeah that worked for exactly 2 seconds and then it got worse! But thanks for the suggestion+the good luck wishes!

Can't see why I would be shaped or throttled? I'm prepaid+only use my BB for browsing, chatting, social media+emails! I used to get by on Cell C's 1GB "BIS" until I got pissed at their poor signal quality in my area and changed to Vodacom.

Sorry 4 2 posts immediately but last time I tried to send a long one my BB reboot itself.

I have been having the following issues for the last month or more:
1) Reboots by itself
2) Battery drains ridiculously fast sometimes (not always)
3) Whatsapp won't download pics or audio files or video (even if small)
4) Browser is ridiculously slow (when it actually works)
5) FB won't show images
6) Twitter won't show images

Again, sorry for another post immediately following another...

Blackberry (on Twitter) suggested a total factory reset, but if I haven't made any changes in the last few months or more, what help would that actually be? Then for the rebooting, they told me to test whether its the battery, sim card or media card, but the rebooting happens randomly and sometimes won't happen for days so how am I supposed to test that? Go without a phone for a couple days to see whether the battery is the culprit?

I'm at my wit's end but I can't afford a new phone+ even the R200 for a new battery is beyond my minimum wage! But I think most of it is Vodacom related, because the FB and Twitter issues have happened before and only got fixed after bi*ching about it to all and sundry until Vodacom sat up and took notice! Maybe I just need a new phone AND provider T_T which only leaves MTN and Telkom since Cell C is cruddy in my area and this is a Voda sim I'm using now... Geez, from one cruddy situation to another...

I have seen many blackberries with the old BB OS rebooting itself. Many of my clients complained about the rebooting and battery draining very quickly and for no apparent reason etc. Dont think this is a issue with the BB OS 10. Also, the old blackberries workes with something called service books (I think that is what they are called) and perhaps they want you to do a reset so that the service books can be reinstalled and see if this fixes the issues you are having.

Other than that, I dont know. Get another phone? That old BB os is dead. People need to move on.

Well I bought a new battery and touch wood, it's working now, almost a week with no reboot. Until BIS is obsolete I don't think the old BB will die. Still the cheapest option to use
