Vodacom black friday 2024

The thing with mobile though, it can change overnight with a few more (4G) users, peak times can be severely congested, towers can go down, etc. Maybe if 5G towers nearby then all good. The speeds are not guarantees.
I'm not clued up on fibre, and maybe I'm lucky, but my fibre line is up and at full speed 99.99% of the time. The speed here is at least a promise.

But all the best to those that needed to save some. 🙏
Keep in mind, telcos do annual price increases on contracts.

Below is mine on 4G+ at 7:30 PM, as 5G randomly shows up. The only reason I got this deal was that my area had 4G congestion. So, I thought 5G will save the day. Looks like I either need to buy an outdoor router myself or beg Vodacom for one, or learn to lock it to 5G somehow. Any suggestions are welcome.

Received mine yesterday, it was active this morning, but only on 4G. I will move it around when I get home from work to see if I can get 5G.

Here is my speedtest at 5am on 4G

You should be able to login to the router. normally the ip and password is on a sticker on the router? Force it to 5G only?

received mine but now the wait for the sim to be rica'd :(
funny thing is, i still tried accessing the router via the ip and password on the router but it just says wrong password, makes me worried.
Should still be able to access the router regardless of rica ? guess i just have to be patient and wait and see

Yes, you can access it via IP, without the sim being activated.
Maybe just a typo when you entered the password.

Everything is up and working on my side - DL ranges from 60mb upwards over 300 (stable around 150mb i'd say) the UL is very slow peaking around 25mb but more like 10mb stable.

during this big storm we had last night is was still up and running around 50mb which is more than usable so i'm very happy so far!

Edit: One thing i found irritating is when you optimize the connection via the app you have to manually go and re-sign into the wifi - it doesnt auto resume the connection for some reason - usually that would be fine but i have my alarm connected and if i dont manually connect to the wifi it stays disconnected.

just more feedback on my side - its not all roses, i do find myself having to optimize the signal at least once a day to get full signal but even when not optimized i do get decent speeds - or usable speeds let me say.

Did anyone confirm that we can transfer non used data to another vodacom sim ? please do give feedback here, i might get another sim on my phone then to use the remaining data when i'm at work etc

Please post steps if possible

Is there any way to reduce packet loss? I get 15-25% packet loss, even non-peak. Ping seems stable around 15. Speeds fluctuate between 105 - 320.

Yes it called callign your fiber provider and asking for your line back :p

Bets move router outside the house, you want best line of sight to tower

Got my first invoice of R577 just now.

Was expecting R449 plus a "connection fee" of R98. So a total of R547. I also paid R106 for the SIM in-store. Not aware of any other charges...

The discrepancy isn't big, just checking with some of y'all if there's a once-off charge I'm missing?

Also, I'm expecting the cost to regularise to R449 from Jan 2025.

TIA.

You should see the details on the invoice. Guessing some pro-rata amounts, but not sure as then it should be bigger discrepancy, unless line started late November.

No extra details on the invoice, but the pro-rata reasoning makes sense.

The router was indeed setup during late November.
