Vodacom BlackBerry Z10 contract prices revealed

wtf is this k@k?

Vodacom seriously have problems. Blackberry Z10 is not exactly a ground breaking device. They playing catch-up and Vodacom wanna charge prices like that???

gtfo

The only remnant of BIS included in these new contracts is unlimited BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) for a limited period.

Dafuq ?

Got to hell VC.

The other SP's have already annouced BB packages with free email and BBM. You can go stick those overpriced, underwhelming packages.

surely a gig and a half of data is more than anybody is able to do using BIS which really does place the Red VIP offering as a high level replacement to all current blackberry options.

BB, Microsoft (Nokia), Apple and Google (Samsung) are the oligopoly of the cell phone industry.

We pretty much don't have that many options.

BB/Nokia/WP naysayers take hid:
- BB will live - 10%+ by end Q4 2013
- Microsoft - 10%+ by end Q4 2013

There are people out there who are dedicated BB enthusiasts, make no mistake. And many of them.

Just like there are Nokia and/or Microsoft faithfulls - lots of them.

This industry is just going shift towards less domination by the current duopoly (Apple v Android) to a more oligopolistic status quo.

And those packages run on BB10?

Well we will have to wait and see I suppose.

But really JVS, there was every indication that those kind of things would be included with BB10.
We all knew BIS was going, most were happy with that.

I just find it mean spirited, EVERYONE has said that they want packages like that, on all platforms. Its the thing that people miss when they leave BB.
Email and messaging data just chip away at our overpriced caps.

Its essentially local data and you charge us at a premium.

and you still charge us for SMS *Tearing my hair out*

I was referring to RIM/BB/Alicia-Keys-Plaything company :)

Ill still defend them lol:D
Its their flagship device, they already have a monster share of the "smartphone" market.
This will only help stabilise it.

Paul E61 guy, these BB10 phones dont support BIS anymore.

Go ahead, be that 10%.

I'll keep cruising on my S2, thanks.

Intel and AMD are great examples of this not being true.

e61i - which actually had BB support.

Yes 500 megs of data which can be used how you feel is better than BIS particularly after fair use measures and so on have come into play. At the moment I suspect 150 megs is better than BIS. From my own experience a Nokia e63 is able to get the browsing of an average BIS user at about 40 megs a month - I use 85 megs over three months with push email and so on.

I wonder if BlackBerry is even aware of these prices from Vodacom....

Pricing is crazy expensive and doesn't make sense.

This will definitely hurt Blackberry!!

The high SMS options are really just a marketing gimmick. Which BB user would use SMS over BBM?

I think all SPs in SA are busy digging BB's grave. It's a pity that BB has not done more to lock down SP's to provide better packages. This creates quite a big issue for SP's - if they provide cheaper packages with more data to BB (because of some exclusive deal), Android/iPhone users will complain about that. I don't think an SP expects much volume to come through from BB devices.

Will be getting my free Z10 as part of the launch event - and test if the device performs better than the Android & iPhone
