Vodacom claims to have South Africa's best network - but it doesn't

Damning evidence against Vodacom's network claim

Vodacom claims it has the "best quality network" in South Africa, but research backed by the operator itself shows that MTN reigns supreme.

On 21 June, Vodacom sent a press statement claiming to have the "best quality network" in South Africa.
best quality my ass, we have a FTTB connection with them, our line went down yesterday, they had me buggering around with their shitty router all afternoon, despite me telling them that the LOS light on the ONT was flashing red, phoned Link Africa this morning, still nothing has been raised with them from Vodacom

They rip a person for FTTB , and then deliver worse service than FTTH

Vodacom does have better quality network from my experience. Speed wise MTN wins, but quality wise Vodacom wins. Had MTN sims card on 110 IoT sites and it was a disaster with MTN, inconsistency, random disconnects, multiple switching of network towers. Vodacom on 110 IoT sites is running smooth, speed wise its a little slower then MTN but quality wise Vodacom has been wonders. All 4G sites.

I want packet loss data.

Bandwidth does not mean a thing, if the data received is broken.
This ^.
Fastest Network != Quality Network.
The best test will be deploy 1000 Devices across the country to measure speed, reliability and overall performance.

Network is useless, MTN is just better plain and simple.

And they thottle whatsapp, I mean why lol

I saw the article on another news website. They are using some community based research metric to substantiate their claim.

Can't win on legitimate ways so we move the goal posts until we win. Vodacom.

You can't use words like best when they are all rubbish.

I'm in the middle of CT and can't get vodacom signal at my house, I moved to Telkom mobile(when it used MTN ) and it was great. Then two years later they switched to vodacom as their partner and its rubbish again.

I have to stand outside to talk on the phone... they not even the best of the worst

Very true however MTN is a damn joke during loadshedding.

How can Cell C have full 4G in Pretoria neighbourhoods during loadshedding and MTN cannot??

MTN 100% here not all towers gets backup power, MTN can run for hours without power on my area. Newish tower through.

You are lucky. What area?

Montana area and even new sites built in the East by Lynwood, Equestria side dead when power goes.

Coverage overall way better than VC. Thats why I switched after 16 years.
VC network was falling apart.

That is my experience with both networks. I actually prefer Vodacom to my MTN line.

Somewhere in cpt haha

But ya no fibre here, so everyone hogs the towers :(

Every second company claims they are the best, the biggest or the brightest in their respective field, but nobody kicks up a fuss about that.

Does anyone even believe it?

Here's a thought:

How about letting the customers decide?

Here where I live as a MTN subscriber their network has gone cold, and it hasn't improved. Vodacom on the other hand is ablaze here.

Vodascum. <removed>

I left vodascum to join Cell C when they were the underdogs in 2010... now Cell C sold their contract customers back to Vodascum after Cell C folded - so now I see the Vodascum network every time I look at my phone.
