Vodacom contract cancelled, call centre calls me asking for security questions?

I think someone may have been trying a phishing scam...

I cancelled my Vcom contract months ago, then I get a call claiming to be vodacom call centre (didn't recognize the number) saying they need to talk to me about my account so I ask what account and for what purpose and they insist that I do the security clearance questions.

Catch 22 now because I'm asking them what it concerns and if they can provide identification and they refuse until I do the same...

I think there's a good chance it was a phishing attempt but now I'm concerned that there may be a small amount oweable on my cancelled contract - I don't want my credit record to be impacted, and I cant access the portal.

Is there a rep on Mybb that can assist me in checking perhaps?

You must phone vodacom and ask them if they need to speak to you. Vodacom will not close an account or migrate it to prepaid unless it is paid up.

Give them bogus answers. You'll soon know for sure.

:D

I can follow the reasoning. Any true voda agent will call you out for false answers. A fake agent cannot since they do not have access to the "questionnaire" system.
