Is anyone in the PTA region expieriencing the same as me:

In Centurion the 3G/GPRS service disconnects all the time (but I am use to this by now) and the next step would be to contact the helpdesk (again) and get this reported and solved....the only problem is - NO HELPDESK IS AVAILABLE!!

I tried contacting 155, 114, 111 and 110 from my mobile, and all the calls fail and simple disconnects (126 and 121 works - but this does not help me)

Did I catch the vodacom help desk during their lunch hour, or is there someone that can please solve this - I am trying to use the service I am paying for every month!

OK - Great...so I called Nashua Mobile, my Service Provider which I pay for the service every month. They tell me to drive all the way to my nearest Vodashop and report the problem there! This is madness!! Why have a helpdesk if this is their response! The network operator is not avaialable and their service provider does not know what todo...

I phoned 155 today...Call failed. After the 7nth retry it connected. option 1 0,operator. # for dailback,i hang up the call. within 60 seconds my phone rang. Listens to Vodacom callback messgae,'clips' "call ended"....what the?
Try 155 again, failed. After my 5/6th retry it connected and i did the same. Only this time the callback call was not dropped.

I am in "Die Hoewes". Not that it makes a difference anyway. It seems that no one can contact Vodacom, as collugues in Moreleta Park have the same issue, even when dialing from a land line - this means the issue is at the call center.

Yep, more or less the same I had...:( perhaps Telkom operators are standing in for the Vodacom guys today?

In an attempt to log the call:
phone 155 - not working
phone 111 - not working
phone nashua mobile - get asked to go to a vodashop
phone 125vodashop and get connected to vodashop centurion - get asked to phone vodaworld and ask for customer service
phone vodaworld - call gets dropped
phone vodaworld - get transferred to customer care and call is dropped after about 2 minutes without an operator answering
phone 0821082 (vsp customer care)- not working
have been trying 111 and 155 since every 5 minutes and still not working

...great!

Yes, I am also having disconnect problems. I am based in Modderfontein, east of Johannesburg. This has been an ongoing problem since yesterday. I have spoken to 4 call centre persons, the last, believe it or not, actually was aware of the network problem. The fact that you did not speak to anyone at the call centre probably saved you some aggravation.Just let me check to see if I am still connected before I send. No, so let me connect again.

Oi vey ! Don't talk to me about GPRS problems in Centurion / Wierdapark.

In the end I had to give up and conceed defeat and purchase a HSDPA card.

After 3 site visits the VC engineers were still stumped.

As for the refund on my billing - "Sorry we are busy preparing for a billing run".

Well, clearly we have two problems here:
1) VC's GPRS/EDGE/3G/HSDPA service is not up to scratch and they are wasting our money since they cannot provide a stable the service. Rather cancel the entire service and stop wasting our time and money. I am now stuck in a 2 year contract and at this stage do not see any reason to renew it, since firstly the VC service is crap and secondly there will be no more subscribers to the 3G data service in two years anyway as everyone will look for another alternative anyway?

2) VC customer care is overloaded. This was indicated this afternoon when several clients could not event dial the helpdesk and a simple 'sorry sir' is just not good enough anymore.

I pay for the service and since I am doing that want the service I am paying for. Vodacom it is simple - We do not want excuses - rather SOLVE THE PROBLEMS!

I am near Krugersdorp on the West of Jhb - same problems - can't stay connected long enough to get my email, let alone do anything else! Goes like this from time to time! Maybe it's related to the end of month rush to use up bundle mbs?

Also had disconnect problems this morning, on GPRS. There must be something wrong, as I haven't had them for a month, at least.
Now that I recall, I had two or three strange disconnects while making/receiving calls yesterday afternoon, about 16:30 tot 17:45

It is like going from smoking weed to smoking crack ...... it is realy brilliant untill you run out of money (which happens a lot faster)

I had no option left in the end, had to stick my hand in my pocket and hand over some cash for a new crack pipe / HSDPA card.

...the 3G/GPRS service disconnects all the time...

when the data service is bad, and switches between 3g and gprs thats when it usually disconnects. i find that locking your network on 3g stops the disconnection problem, but you won't necessarily get top speeds:rolleyes:
