Vodacom "fastest 3G network" claim lands it in hot water

I don't know if I am the only one noticing the ASA decisions recently are so pathetic.

Its clear they favor the big monopolies or that's the impression they creating. The advert was needed to be pre-cleared, they failed that. They even went beyond that and breached a clearly defined ruling. Still this does not spur the ASA into action.

What MUST VODACOM AND MTN DO so that they can rattle your chains MR ASA. You're a pathetic body in this country that's slowly becoming ignored.

It seems u might have ur own piggy banks with the ad agencies, so the impression goes or just following ur Big Daddy, the caANCer body.

Wait for Cell C to do something, guess they not on your payroll.

The ASA are useless. What point is a regulatory body without any teeth?

It's the same story - yada-yada! Companies make outlandish, unproven (or unprovable) claims and gets away with it. I aggree that it is useless to have a watch dog without teeth - there are no real consequences for the big boys and a slap on the wrist fine is never going to deter these companies from doing it again.
We have fallen into a culture of mediocrity and pretty much take everthing at face value, or because we are told to. Only the very few asks the right questions and demand action but are left out in the cold (and without decent mobile coverage) because there is no accountability where it actually matters.
In the end, you're stuck with high fees, crap service, bogus claims and the ASA saying, "Don't do it again, please?"
I love our country and don't want to live anywhere else! And even I have to admit to sometimes having a "this is Africa" mentallity, but we just don't see the right allocation of resources to better our "broad"-band and data infrastructure in the near future...
But we sure are flogging the living crap out of these dead horses, hey?
