Good morning,

I'm Tertius Kilian, I've been trying to get some sort explanation from Vodacom for two months, basically what happend was I got a new phone using my old sim, now with the new contract I also received a nano sim but have never used it. Billing on this number came and the data usage is over R1200, I went in and vodacom stated that an fraud investigation has been opened since this sim card I have is not even linked to an account, according to Vodacom the sim is being used in an Apple device(I've never owned any Apple devices) and the investigation will last up to 21 working days, yesterday another debit order went off again over R2000. I've asked Vodacom to soft-lock that number, they've phoned me once and I've never heard from them again. I'm still sitting with the sim they gave me, but I will not pay this amount again. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've phoned the Accounts department this morning from my work line and was busy holding, the line cut out and I'm fed up now. I want to reverse these debit orders but I'm not sure how to handle this situation.

Any advice or help will be appreciated.

Regards.

Go to your bank and ask them to put a stop on that debit and try and reverse it. Explain to them what happened.

But then vodacom would still expect the money from me, they not coming back to me. And I mean they should clearly see that the device that is apparently using my sim card is not even in the same city. I took the sim card in and they claim its not linked to an account, no sim swop has ever been done on the sim, best of all the sim they gave me is right in front of me. I've basically paid over R2000 for someone else's data usage.

see what the outcome is of the investigation, did you get a ref#?
you will have to get your bank to reverse the debit orders within 24hours.
very important contact the 0821946 the vodacom accounts, tell them not to debit debit your account and give them the ref# as proof of the investigation. Get the name of the consultant who you talk to, the date and time that will be you ref# for the call.

Standard Bank give you up to 40 days to reverse debit orders.

If you reverse the debit order, they will definitely come back to you.
