Hi All,

I have recently become aware that Vodacom have a fraudulent account opened in my name, which seems to have run up over R20 000 in debt. I have spoken to 3 people at Customer Care, tried emailing my affidavit to 2 store emails, as well as customer care, as well as directly to someone in the fraud department and to date received NOTHING back.

I'm really not sure what to do to get this resolved. It seems they are not interested in fraudulent activity or helping me! Do I open a case against them with the police? I would appreciate any help anyone can offer, please.

Thanks!

Yes, ASAP open a case of fraud. This gives you your first legal step. Not sure on the rest, other than go to one of the Vodacom "Service" centres and make a big noise. I mean make sure that the other 300 people waiting in line know your whole story. You are almost guaranteed to be served by the manager.

In retrospect AND AS A WARNING TO EVERYONE ELSE, it is well worth getting registered with one of the credit report agencies. For a small one off fee they will alert you every time a credit request is asked for. That way you will know immediately that someone else is trying to get credit/contract in your name. That way you can nip it in the bud before it gets out of control.

Thanks so much and definitely agree on the credit checks!! This is how I found out about this.

Does anyone know how I can successfully report this to Vodacom, so I can at least get the account blocked and clear my name? I've tried every form of contact and am unable to get anyone to respond??
