Vodacom international roaming price cut promotion

It is a step in the right direction still many steps to be taken. Vodafone/vodacom with their many networks in many countries like MTN should start implementening lower roaming rates between their networks in many countries not as a promotion but on a permanent basis at much lower rates. International roaming be it voice or data is daylight robbery. Seeing they conrol many networks it shouldn't be impossible to negotiate lower rates on their own networks. I think it is purely not done due to the massive profits they can generate at the expense of the uneducated traveler

Well played Vodacom, but this is just a promotion. Who knows, this could be for 2 weeks only.

Damn, everything these days is a promotion. Kind of makes promotions not feel so promoted any more.

That's great, all I have to do to take part in this amazing Vodacom promotion that will save me a few hundred rand, is spend several thousand rand on a plane ticket to the UK

Thanks Vodacom, can you organise me a cheaper plane ticket?

It is a step in the right direction still many steps to be taken.

I'm not so sure, footprints from all these steps are leaving a circular impression.

So it is still 3 times more expensive than calling from Cell C in SA than from Vodafone subsidiary on their own network?? I appreciate it is a move in the right direction, but find it a little odd that incoming calls are free if outgoing need to be R2.90??

Vodacom, I think u need a "NINE NINE" Cell C sim card. Will definitely be sustainable.

1. Calls are per-minute, not per second, so the effective rate is substantially higher. Especially if (for example) you get voicemail when you try to phone home.

2. Shows what a massive margin is being made out of promotion.

3. I would also like to know - what does it cost for a Vodafone UK person to call you when you are in the UK?
