Vodacom launches 89c international call promotion

When I last checked Australia wasn't in Europe...

Anyway, the R5 "opt-in fee" kills it for anyone spending less than 50 minutes per month on international calls.

Thanks Vodacom, so will please at least... what, um.... 1% of clients? How many people regularly call overseas and those who do, with family there, can just Skype for free.

A R5 monthly fee will be charged to opt-in to this promotional rate.

$V$o$d$a$c$o$m$ ripoff and failure to compete. I would bet that this subscription fee was the Scameelperd's idea.

Vodacon at it again!

Only a South African company could have overseas rates cheaper than local rates. :wtf:

EPIC FAIL! :crying:

ICASA is Vodacon's & eMpTyN's best co-conspirator (or should I say friend?)

If only Cell C had coverage that was on par with theirs, they wouldn't be making these lame promotions.

Vodacom, Power to Your Wallets.

Actually Cell C has better coverage than VC, as you automatically switch to VC when you are not covered by the own Cell C network. So really not attractive at
all.

It's now cheaper to phone a country oversees than making a phone call from network to network in South Africa??

WTF is going on? Can something please explain this to me, cos I simply cannot understand this anymore.

Please qualify this, Cell C network will fail with half the number of Vodacom subs.
And roaming onto Vodacom still meant only Edge not 3G

In other countries where there's no collusion between operators interconnect rates are as low as 5c-10c and that's what Vodacom pays to terminate their calls on those networks; so in actual fact they make even more money while charging you less!!! Saddest thing is Vodacom and MTN operate in a lot of these markets and their interconnect there is that low but here in SA they still maintain those high interconnect fees. But this is a model adopted by most industries in SA, overcharge the customers here and charge less elsewhere - they can afford it, isn't this the richest country on the continent???

Its now cheaper to call your friend in london then your next door neighbour in SA during peak time.

They have signed an agreement where you won't drop to Edge when roaming anymore.
Not sure when it will be active, but AFAIK it should be already.

Cell C wins as it is not opt-in, and not a promotion. Not good enough Vodacom.
