These arent running on the normal internet, it sound like its low frequency radio wave (RF) meaning it penetrates into places that normally dont get cell reception but with the trade off that there is less bandwidth (smaller packets).

So it is atleast a tiny bit more secure than current IoT , as you will need your own SDR to intercept the packets ...

If only the article gave us the details... (Yes, I mean frequencies, standards, pricing, availability of modules, etc.)
