Vodacom-Neotel deal gets approval

Wonder how much their legal costs will run into.

If CellC decide to go to court to have the approval set aside they need to be ready to explain to the court why they shouldn't furnish security for costs as they have an intention to use litigation exclusively to stall and this has been widely reported on.

I imagine VC legal costs are significantly higher than CellC at this juncture though

Would be a stupid move by Cell C as it is going to happen eventually.

stupid fighting against the inevitable is a tradition in industries highly embedded into government regulation ...

Telkom and LLU ...

But wait....
Isn't it still subject to competition commission

And would the competition commission stand in the way of competition between telkom and vodacom?

Inclined to agree with Cell C on this one. VC is already the strongest player - a deal that strengthens their hand while removing a competitor is not good news for the end consumer. Whether it "unfair" is another question....

Only bad for the consumer if VC are able to avoid non-discriminatory access and pricing ...

VC have just sweetened the pot for CC by allowing them to roam on their network...

well presumably they've made the price sweater ...

now the thing to see is how VC gains access to Neotel data services on LTE ...

Vodacom has got much deeper pockets though than Cell C. Not saying this should prevent someone from fighting for what is right, but one also has to weigh the consequences and if that money would not be better spent somewhere else instead of throwing money into a fight that could very well be a losing battle.

Going to court cause you want to show the industry that you have big balls is not always the smart thing to do. Like a little jack russell that barks and barks and barks and puts up a big show for the big dogs, but when the big dogs growls the little jack russell pisses its pants.

But who knows .... perhaps it does go their way. I just realllly would not put money on it. Time will tell.
