Vodacom Not Protecting Against Subcription Services

I have noticed on several occasions that my airtime balance is being debited but with using the phone each day I recharge without keeping track on what actually debits my account.

The culprit debiting my account turned out to be Subsription Services - two of them!
I cannot recall subscribing to any of these services - I have unsubscribed from these on several occasions but they seem to auto subscribe themselves again. To unsubscribe I used the menu on *111#.

My question - Why does Vodacom not protect us from these subscriptions? I have lost hundreds of rands due to services that auto subscribe themselves. I view my Vodacom account similar to my bank account and expect to be protected against external threats.

Can you relate and what are your views?

Thanks,
William

You say you cancelled using *111#, that won't cancel your WASP subscription as far as I know. You should send the text message "STOP ALL" to 30333. It is a free service and will inform you if you have any subscriptions activated.

Hi Guys

Thank you for the feedback. I appreciate it.

In principle, I want a Service Provider to protect me from third party debits on my account as they have not been authorized BUT thinking of it - nor does banks protect you from third party debits...

I have sent "STOP ALL" to 30333 and received confirmation of the cancellation thereof but am being resubscribed automatically after a few days. Will give WASPA a go to retrieve my airtime and sort them out hopefully :)

Some feedback with regards to my previous post - Contacted WASPA, laid complaints, got feedback, were refunded, and told that they will never automatically resubscribe my number again. The number has been internally blacklisted.

Thanks for the advice by some of the members.
