Vodacom Number Duplicated on another Network??

A friend is having an issue with his Vodacom Number.. He's on one of the Vodacom Unlimited packages using a 083 number that he ported a few years ago.

Basically he can only receive calls from other Vodacom and CellC numbers but not from MTN. I tried calling him from my MTN number but the call goes through to somone else. The first time I called a lady answered, says hello, then doesn't say a word, I tried few more times and she just answers and keeps quiet so I can't get any info out of her.

He also doesn't receive any sms's but can send out sms's to any network. Since last Friday he started receiving whatsapp verification codes and even lost access to his whatsapp for a while, and then a black lady's pic appeared on his whatsapp profile pic so she's trying to use his number, luckily he got his whatsapp profile back.

He tried the Vodacom Cell centre but they can't find anything wrong. I checked his number on the porting db and it shows correctly as a Vodacom number.. It looks like a similar issue on this thread http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...actly-the-same-cell-number-as-me!-WTH-!/page2

Had this happen with a new TM SIM. They had to give me a new number...
