Made contact with the Vodacom call centre last Monday and spoke to a supervisor.
Explained my situation that MTN were offering me a retention package to sign another 24 months, though I was interested in porting if Vodacom were prepared to give me a good deal.
For the first two days, said supervisor took all my calls and followed up on email. Unfortunately, in terms of results, that got no where. After that, from answering my calls and promising "let me get to my desk and call you from my line", to always being unavailable to take my calls and then not returning the messages I left with his front-line staff, he went completely AWOL.
I brought this up with another supervisor on his level, who was equally uncommunicative about the matter.
So various empty promises from said supervisor has left a seriously bad taste in my mouth whenever I read the VC name - it's unfortunate really - I thought maybe they would be a refreshing change and could use a few extra contracts.
Thank you MTN, the manager of your retentions department has been handling my case like an absolute pro.
Edit: Mods please move thread to Cellular Contacts sub-forum.
