Vodacom online security flaw exposes subscriber details

Well done to Vodacom for handling this in the way it should be handled – unlike the CoJ which did the opposite.

My Vodacom security flaw exposes subscriber details

The My Vodacom website exposed personal details of the operator’s subscribers; security flaw identified and addressed

If I remember correctly this is not the first time that the portal exposes details. Either during this year or the previous year you could have done more or less the same...

:edit
Not the one I'm looking for but still

Should have been tested before going live. hope they said thanks for the info

In all fairness, there's no such thing as a perfect bug free solution and sometimes bugs get through. The fact that they handled it in a speedy manner (on a public holiday) and didn't try and pawn it off as a hacking incident is what counts here, does it not?

The guys worked throughout the night on Boxing day, so I would agree with you.

As to testing and flaws; we must remember only anonymous MyBroadband members built perfect systems with no bugs. ;)

And lastly; thanks to cbrunsdonza for picking this up. I'll be contacting him shortly (and not with a summons! ;))

Now if you would only fix the stuff ups on your portal with such haste I would really be impressed - Vodacomdata cannot even help me here

Hopefully he gets sent a nice case of whiskey for this..

But definitely a good speedy response from Vodacom on this....

And now MyBB compromises the anonymity of one of its members by naming him by his real name.

The security flaw was reported to MyBroadband by a concerned forum member Christopher Brunsdon (cbrunsdonza).

I have tried everything already. I have 2 days left on my contract..... done with them. Strange think is they would answer all other treads but likes to skip the one about the portal and apps not working. I have spend about R1000 a month at Vodacom. this is my last sim card........ never again
