Hi,

Yesterday morning I had R90.xx on my phone, I downloaded about 8mb and when I checked my balance again I had R0.06 on my phone. This has happened before, but with alot less money.

I decided to recharge my phone last night with R55, I am on family top up.

I took photos this time, it charged me R2.95 for roughly 275kb. See the attached screen shots.

Can V3g provide some insight into this? This is bloody ridiculus, you buy 1gb of data for roughly R100? and then you charge me R90 for 9mb. Too bad I recently signed up for another 2 years with you guys.

So V3g, how do you explain this?

You can find the photos here, in order :

I see a pattern of it only happening on prepaid type accounts or am I wrong ?

This is the reason why I stopped using Vodacom HSDPA on a prepaid basis.

Waiting until PPDBs are launched , but then again I could be waiting some time :D

I think what you saw might be the 'reservation' system. As you browse credit is reserved (based on a forward projection of your usage at that time) and is deducted from your account.

So it might look like you are paying more than the actual rate. As soon as you disconnect, it's refunded again.

Is this what you saw, i.e. when you disconnect, does the correct balance showed again?

No it doesn't. Like I said R90 for 9mb, and I don't see my old balance back. I checked on vodacom4me and saw that it charged me R2.39 , R1.97 etc. etc. but it doesn't add up to R90

OK, then best bet is to call your service provider and let them explain what they're up to.

Let us know.

Can you perhaps provide me with a direct number? I was on hold for almost an hour(speaker phone ftw) and got cut off, and I don't (read don't) want to hold again.
