Vodacom Please Call Me fight continues in court

Alan Knott-Craig invented it. It says so in his autobiography.

;-)

Was this Makate guy seriously rich to start with? If he is not rich, how is he paying for all the legal fees for the time he keeps on wasting in court?

He "sold" the case to a legal company. They then proceed on risk.

Are they denying he was promised compensation by the then manager? If not they should step up and pay.

It works like this, the firm takes on cases for a big cut, the firm has private local/foreign investors, a case by case risk analysis is done before they take on any case. Makate is not footing the bill here.

Stirling Rand has already paid R5 million in legal fees for Makate.

Speaking to Business Report last week, Elsdon said his company only pursued litigation where it anticipated a more than 70 percent chance of success.

Curiously:

“If we lose, we bear the costs. We take the risk entirely. We fund a case right until the Constitutional Court.”

I wonder if "until" in that context means "up to and including" or "up to but excluding", presumably the former.
