Vodacom, please enable balance checking for promo data bundles through the web portal

Are you guys still having issues viewing bundles ? my test PP sim shows promo balance available.

Dear Vodacom

Please, please, please can you fix the problem on your web portal that prevents us from seeing the remaining balance for promo data bundles on your website.

Before you say, "use *111#", not everyone has access to USSD. The Vodacom web portal is the ONLY way I have to check the balance on my prepaid data sim card. I know many others are in the same situation as I am, i.e. using prepaid sim cards in devices like 3G routers and many tablets that do not have USSD.

Had a similar problem but solved it with the following: I am using a Gecko based engine Browser (I use Avant but this applies to a host of others such as Firefox, CometBird, Flock etc.) An addon (such as IE tabPlus-an xpi addon) will allow the user to switch rendering engines to an Explorer compatible engine. As soon as I do this I can suddenly read the data and promotional data balances on the Vodacom Web site. Change back to a Firefox (Gecko) and the balances disappear once again. Come on Vodacom, sort this out! I haven't been able to see data balances on my account via ANY method for weeks. How am I expected to manage my data usage without this vital information?

You're not, that's the whole point. The only conclusion one can come to about Vodacom's unwillingness to sort this issue out is that they do not want you to manage your promo data bundle usage.

Well I'm not going to put up with it any longer. I have been a PAYG data customer with Vodacom for the past 5 years but I will not be recharging my data next time it expires...Whenever that may be as I have absolutely no idea how much I have remaining from my last recharge. Vodacom's service seems to have got much worse just lately in any case as I am forever losing my connection.

I complained to Vodacom yesterday about this issue and was told that it would be "escalated" to the relevant department. Their idea of "escalation" is somewhat different to mine as all that has happened is that I got a SMS from a customer care advisor explaining how to use the website or *111# to check my promotional balance. Neither one of these options work (they tell me I have 0 Balance-nonsense as I am still connected) which is exactly what I had complained about! It is not possible to reply to the SMS the cc advisor sent to me. So I now have to make the same complaint again.

There's no point complaining. Vodacom know about the problem and have acknowledged it several times. However they are either unwilling or unable to fix it. I'm not sure which yet.

I have a solution (provided you connect through a Vodafone R206-Z modem):

  1. Go to vodafonemobile.wifi/home.htm.
  2. Log in using the default password of "admin" or another password if you have changed it.
  3. Go to the Account tab.
  4. At the bottom of the page there is a link called "Balance" under the title "Account". Click on the link "Balance".

You will then see the total data remaining on your SIM card.

No, but you seem to be the only one who is unable to use the search facility.

Thanks for your pointless comment however this thread is pretty old (was before Vodacom had the option of checking promotional data balances online without going the USSD route) so its of no use to me!

Anyway, Vodacom confirmed that there was an issue and some time later I was able to check balances again.

The account tab from the vodacom mobile website is how I check my balance.
Anyway, a little OT though, I am trying to subscribe for a mymeg30 once off bundle. Are the data bundles on this list still active? vodacom prepaid plans and prices
