[Vodacom] Prepaid international roaming for SMSes

I'm on vodacom prepaid, and I'd like to be able to send SMSs from a non-SA location - i.e., I'd like roaming, but just for SMSs.

I don't suppose this is possible, currently? I know last time I looked into roaming you had to be on contract; had to have been on contract for a certain period of time; and had to put down a deposit of something like R3000 to have roaming activated. That was several years ago, so it might well have changed in the meantime; but it's still not possible on prepaid, right?

Edit: blueghost_39 beat me to it You only have These Prepaid options available to you.
I would rather buy a SIM card that side if I want a proper prepaid solution.

Roaming's certainly gotten a lot simpler than the last time I looked into it! Pity there aren't too many countries on the list - it doesn't help me for this trip, but I'll keep it in mind for future trips. Often I need to just be able to SMS from the airport to say that I've landed, and to keep in touch every now and then - not worth getting a local sim for.

If you had access to the internet, you could login at v4me and send up to 20 SMSes to Vodacom numbers...probably more convenient and easier to send such SMSes from your phone though.

If I had access to the internet I could probably just send emails instead - in most cases, anyway. I do always forget about sending SMSs from v4me, though, so thanks for the reminder

As long as you have GPRS roaming you can always send emails from your phone. If you roam on Vodafone networks its not too expensive.
