I bought one of these 12*2GB Vodacom deals yesterday, but have been subject to some quite unethical behaviour from Vodacom, Breach of Contract in fact.

The T&C said :

9. The bundles consist of 12 recurrences of 1GB, 2GB prepaid data bundles, applied every 30 days.

10. The first of the 12 data bundle allocations will be loaded on purchase of the bundle. Customers will receive an SMS confirming the allocation of the first of the 12 data bundles.

11. The subsequent data bundle allocations will be applied every 30 days after the initial allocation.

12. Each data bundle allocation is valid until the end of the next calendar month.

So now it turns out that each data bundle allocation is only valid for 30 days, which is a breach of the contract in terms of which I entered into this deal.

I suppose that I could take Vodacom to the small claims court to enforce my rights in terms of the contract, but is this really necessary ?

But how else can I enforce my rights in terms of the contract ?

Any views on this, Vodacom breaching the terms of their own contract ?

You took the contract out two days ago? How do you know that the data will only be valid for 30 days?

Surely this point makes it clear that it is valid for 2 months.

12. Each data bundle allocation is valid until the end of the next calendar month.

Yes, but Vodacom refuses to do so.

It says so when you do a *111# data balance enquiry, and Vodacom confirmed this.

Looks like a pretty clear contradiction in their terms then. If you took the contract out at a Vodacom outlet you should get there and ask them to explain.

It was online, and Vodacom are just fobbing me off.

The data is valid for upto 2 months. However, the current month's newly allocated data will be used first before the remainder of the previous month's data is used.

Are you sure about that ? It does not show like that when you do a balance enquiry.

With my postpaid data contracts it does show both months, and the full period of data validity.

And when I asked Vodacom support they said that the data was only valid for 30 days, but I am not sure that they knew what they were talking about.

This is correct

It does not look as if this is the case, a balance enquiry says that the data is only valid for 30 days, and Vodacom confirms this.

So a clear breach of contract.

Still no luck with this, Vodacom support also don't have a clue.

And My Vodacom online still broken, the data deal does not even show up on the online system.

Jannie ? Why is your online system so useless ?

Aah, now Vodacom have changed my 12 * 2GB bundle into a 1 * 2GB, so I lose 11 * 2GB allocations.

Must say, they are completely useless, never seen such poor Customer Service.

This is crazy, just can't get this resolved, this is mind-boggling.

Vodacom now insist on an order number, which I don't have as I did not take a screen dump when I bought the 12*2 bundle.

However, I have sent them a Standard Bank SMS, and my Credit Card Statement, which both show all the details of the transaction.

I can only assume that their systems are in such a state of collapse that they cannot even see which transactions went through.

Jannie, keep some evenings open, you are going to have to defend this in the Small Claims Court !
