Hi there everyone

I need some advice here, so my phone (galaxy note 4) stoped charging, suspect the charge port giving problems, but anyways... So I handed the phone in at vodacom repairs department as its still within the warranty period.

Today I received a mail frok them saying it has water damage on the main board(corrosion) and I have to pay for the repairs, but I know for a fact that my phone never got wet! At all! And this was my reply, then they sent a pic... Well I dont see a main board, I see some white around a screw area but hell nothing else.. Could this not be from a loose screw perhaps that came loose over time... I dont know what else to think... And besides, I know it never got wet.. And also where are the water damage indicator stickers or whatever its called... Shouldnt there be anything like that?

Some advise please, As I dont see how they should just be able to get away with this?

Standard response from Vodacum. If they don't want to repair it, don't pay them to do it, take it somewhere else

Phones got a few [3] stickers inside, that, when getting wet, get blurred. =water damage.

Was it in your pocket?

Like where?

I'm sure you can find a cellphone repair shop somewhere.

And where exactly is that screw? Is that what's causing it to not charge?

Meh, probably not, but who's got time to argue and fight with these pricks.

I actually had the same issue with another vendor. Sony phones sent in for repairs and they stated that some of the phones had water damage which I know wasn't true at all. Those are the last devices they will be repairing for us.

Where are you based and we can make some recommendations

Not only a toilet dunk qualifies for water damage. It is advised that you don't have it in the bathroom while you shower for instance.

Humidity...

Are you coastal or inland? Ever steam up the backseat with the GF? All that adds to it...
Ok but if no water damage indicators are blown, are they allowed to then clawsify this as water damage? I live in Pta bud

Changing colour of water damage indicators is not a proof for water damage. I know, they do it, but it is not right. They would have to proof that a failure is related to water damage. Pictured is a typical corrosion.

Do not carry your phone in a pocket. You expose phone to a body sweat.
Use a holder attached to belt.
Do not leave phone in the car.
Do not take phone with you to the bathroom.
Buy a brand which claim to be spill resistant and have warranty support for this claim.

Ag no... That sounds like taking care of another baby... So what you saying is im screwed here? And that they have ground to refuse the claim? Or should they still be able to proof that the damage caused is due to the water? My charhe port seemed to have failed as it doesnt charge properly anymore.. It doesnt want to charge...
