Vodacom revenues up 12.2% to R17.997 billion, reveals Q3 trading statement

With data revenues increasing so much I can see why they don't lower prices.

Love them or hate them you have to admit those numbers are impressive.MTN have definitely taken their eye off the ball what with events affecting them outside SA borders and you get the feeling that CellC are too cash strapped to make a significant dent into Vodacom's customer base.Difficult to comment on 8ta as they are still relatively new to the market.
Vodacom to their credit have taken advantage of all of this.
What is plainly evident is SA's huge appetite for mobile data so hopefully MTN,CellC and 8ta can make a difference in 2012 and start becoming viable competitors because right now they are also ran's

South African companies do love issuing completely meaningless trading statements...

Revenue is up 12.2% - So #*!& what? If revenue is up 12.2% and expenses are up 15% then profits are down - but it is impossible to see in this statement if this is the case. Even the version of this statement on their homepage (http://www.vodacom.com/pdf/quarterly_results/qr_31122011.pdf) doesn't shed any light on the level of expenses or profits.

Not that this is a problem unique to VOD. They all do it...
