v3g has already posted about this, i.e. Vodacom will only release 7.2 firmware for the E220 once it has been tested and the network has been upgraded to cope with 7.2.

We tested some of the early-release 7.2 firmwares floating around and found some of them will kill your E220.

Big Kris ... what are your real speeds though? For example, on the Mxit site I pasted earlier? Do you get over 100kb/sec ?

Downloaded the Mxit pc download to see...No more than 88kb/s at any given time..On 1.8 I have seen 154kb/s already...That was from Microsoft direct..

Been using 3.6M for close on a week now...Very mixed feelings here..
Some times its blisteringly fast..most of the time I don't think there was any difference between 1.8M and 3.6M..
What I have noticed is that my personal allocation of daily bandwidth has increased dramatically !!
Ive probably used 1.8 times daily than what I was using with 1.8M..
A little experiment is in order here methinks..Im going back to 1.8M speed with my old Nozomi card and looking at bandwidth use and also speed..Now the speed thing is going to be seat of the pants feel for real life down and up loading..I personally feel I'm probably going to stay with 1.8M..

Real world speeds don't seem to be that much different. And yes,Im definitely using serious amounts more bandwidth here..(Is that the right terminology? Bandwidth?)
Watch this space..

Yeah it's pretty much 6 of the one half a dozen of the other... The only time I've noticed a difference between 1.8 and 3.6 is when I do a vodacom.co.za speed test where 3.6 is about 20% quicker than 1.8 was, hardly worthwhile, I'm afraid there isn't enough evidence to convince me that 3.6 is even 50% quicker than 1.8 let alone 100%. I guess it's marketing marketing marketing and very little else... Disappointing really...

Im now back on the e620 card..1.8M card..
Just downloaded the Mxit test download again..Quess what ? Same download speed as 3.6M.
To be fair, yes,I have noticed its slightly slower than 3.6M..not R50`s worth though..and Im saving on bandwidth with the slower card..Same time frame,my normal selection of sites and forums and Ive used 50 Meg`s less..85 vs 135..
mmmm...

Ran 2 speed tests simultaneously on speed.vodacom.co.za:
1:
Download Speed: 1470 kbps (183.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 286 kbps (35.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
2:
Download Speed: 1421 kbps (177.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 309 kbps (38.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

The download on Dumeter was 2.1Mbps - my first over 2Mbps:D

3 simultaneous:
1:
Download Speed: 1105 kbps (138.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 141 kbps (17.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
2:
Download Speed: 841 kbps (105.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 205 kbps (25.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
3:
Download Speed: 1308 kbps (163.5 KB/sec transfer rate)

Dumeter maxed at 2.1Mbps with a consistent speed over 2Mbps over the download tests.

What are your real world downloads like ??

I haven't done any download tests yet. Are you interested in the speed results using a download manager?

Also it will depend on whether it is local or international.

Something Dolby said here...its great to see these wonderful speed test results and all the glitter with it,but what are the real world results like....

I did a few downloads amongst others Dolby`s Mxit pc download,5.9M and absolutely no difference between 1.8 and 3.2M.
I also downloaded 300 odd Megs from the Nero AG site and saw 154/160 on both 1.8 and 3.6..I dont think its worth anything at the moment..

Have you ever seen 200 or even 250 Kb/s downloads with wireless before?
I have not...
