v3g has already posted about this, i.e. Vodacom will only release 7.2 firmware for the E220 once it has been tested and the network has been upgraded to cope with 7.2.
pretty much in the middle of nowhere
Yeah it's pretty much 6 of the one half a dozen of the other... The only time I've noticed a difference between 1.8 and 3.6 is when I do a vodacom.co.za speed test where 3.6 is about 20% quicker than 1.8 was, hardly worthwhile, I'm afraid there isn't enough evidence to convince me that 3.6 is even 50% quicker than 1.8 let alone 100%. I guess it's marketing marketing marketing and very little else... Disappointing really...Been using 3.6M for close on a week now...Very mixed feelings here..
Some times its blisteringly fast..most of the time I don't think there was any difference between 1.8M and 3.6M..
What I have noticed is that my personal allocation of daily bandwidth has increases dramatically !!
Ive probably used 1.8 times daily than what I was using with 1.8M..
A little experiment is in order here methinks..Im going back to 1.8M speed with my old Nozomi card and looking at bandwidth use and also speed..Now the speed thing is going to be seat of the pants feel for real life down and up loading..I personally feel I'm probably going to stay with 1.8M..
Real world speeds dont seem to be that much different. And yes,Im definitely using serious amounts more bandwidth here..(Is that the right terminology? Bandwidth?)
Watch this space..
What are your real world downloads like ??
In a bus on the N4 at the Brits turnoff, pretty much in the middle of nowhere:
Download Speed: 2469 kbps (308.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 335 kbps (41.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
