I'm on the same VC infrastructure as you except for the local tower:

Download Speed: 1479 kbps (184.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1122 kbps (140.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

I'm not in a 3G area, so 1.4M down is pretty much what I always get.

You appear to be on vanilla 3G and not HSDPA for the download speeds.

Download Speed: 110 kbps (13.8 KB/sec transfer rate)

You're knocking Vodacom so much lately, I asked the guys to limit your throughput so you can have something real to moan about. But only after hours.

Me? Knocking Vodacom? Never...

I dunno, but it seems to work fine during the day. Had a constant DL of +-130KB/s(1200Kbps) throughout today.

But from 5pm it started again, so i knew it was gonna be a nightmare here at home

Do i follow steps 1 through 9 in your sig?

Download Speed: 165 kbps (20.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 112 kbps (14 KB/sec transfer rate)

I'm redlining on EDGE Speeds. Only in the evenings

Just for interests sakes, i'm on Prepaid. I never switched on the HSDPA 3.6 Trial on my line. I used the 1.8 Profile up until the 29th of April 2008.

Upload Speed: 320 kbps (40 KB/sec transfer rate)

Just about to get off work, will do the next test later at home and see:

My Average Speed sofar is 1.2Mbps, with a glimpse of 1.8+ early mornings.

I'm thinking i should try out the 3.6 Profile for a month just to see if there will be a difference. But my salary wont allow it...

Before this test, i did a test for a customer also on a 1.8 Profile, and it shot to 2.2Mbps!

Well, decided to do a speed test from work using speed.vodacom.co.za. The MTN dash shows a signal strength of 2 bars (E620tool shows -85dbm), which is more or less the best signal I can get either at work or at home (using a Vodacom sim!).

Results:
Download speed: 1924 kbps
Upload speed: 301 kbps

Definitely not bad considering the signal.
