Stock standard E272 with 7.2/UPA profile enabled.
So where can I get one? Actually this reminds me of a question I needed to ask my service provider, Nashuamobile, when the 24 months on our data bundle is up do we get new modems when we sign for another 24 months?

I downloaded a 45MB file in 3 minutes 27 seconds yesterday - my 1.8 connection was maxed out :D.

I was using Orbit with 10 concurrent connections:).

Nice! :D Would you do me a favour and tell me what mdma indicates as your connection type in the top-right corner when you're next on HSUPA please?

Unknown(5.7.

5.7Mb/s is the max UPA speed, so it looks like that's what the number refers. The E272 supports 2Mb/s afaik.

Thanks!

That's just a coincidence, the Huawei cards report ^MODE:x,y.
If the values are unfamiliar, mdma will show "Unknown(x,y)".
Values I know are: 5,4 for 3G and 5,5 for HSDPA, and in the next version 5,7 will indicate HSUPA.

My HSUPA Speed on target

My speed results are on target using E272 with Mobile Partner 11.002.03.16.03 Software. I did subscribe to the "Free" 3.6kbps and renewed it when the R49 became payable.

My Speed results:
3100 kbps (387.5 KB/s Transfer Rate)
1145 kbps (143.1 KB/s Transfer Rate)
Ping: 114 Ms

I am pleased with the results and thank you Vodacom. Please maintain this speed please Vodacom.

This might aggravate some fellow forumites but I'm going to revive this thread in any event to illustrate progress on the Voda 3G network...

Download Speed: 2506 kbps (313.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 260 kbps (32.5 KB/sec transfer rate)

And if you had a UPA modem the uplink would have jumped to something like:

Download Speed: 2506 kbps (313.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1150 kbps (143.7 KB/sec transfer rate)

Which really is not too shabby for a piece of hardware not much bigger than pack of matches. And is fully mobile.

Cool, welcome to the forum. :)

In your forum profile there is a setting for location. Won't you please update it, so we can get a feel for where you are based?

Profile updated. It is strange that I'm getting a decent speed. The Vodafone software shows a solid green block which is GPRS and I am on the edge of the signal area on the coverage map. It's probably because I'm up on the 9th floor :)

You're on HSDPA;)

Green = GRPS / EDGE
Blue = 3G
Cyan [Blue/Green] = HSDPA
