Hi

Am I alone in having Vodacom steal my money on behalf of some random thieving 3rd party WASP provider?

After requesting a cancellation quote on 13 April for my one Vodacom contract, seeing as they decided to raise their rates mid contract, I noticed some content services charges.

Phoning them up, turns out im pay R7 per day since October for http://mmsza.me/ which appears to be basically nothing, (maybe photos, I have no idea).

Any way, Vodacom refuses to give me my money back and just forwarded me 'proof' that I was a 'costomer' (as per their offical proof document) and that I opted in by clicking a link in an sms (random link sms`ed on its own it would seem from their 'proof', my wife probly clicked it to see what it was)

Am I alone in this? Vodacom clearly allows these rogue players to just bill everybody while they take their cut. I`m having news24 write an article on this, just wondering if there is any one else out there also getting robbed by Vodacom? I have also ordered Vodacom to cancel my debit order and they kept stealing money from my account. First rate company this.

Welcome to the "stung by wasp" club.
Sometimes an advert pops up, if you look at the link you'll see your number in there.
Clicking the wrong button there, gives them instant access to your bank account, not only that but the likes of MIRA give the access to other countries like Spain where these thieves cannot be touched.

It's completely messed up, being able to skip a proper verification that requires actual user input/registration.

Vodacom won't take responsibility though.

First check your SMS history, they are required by law to tell you, you are registered, and the message must adhere to a certain format.

You'll need to file a complaint with waspa.

Note your dealing with weasels, all they need to do is show that they had the ToS on the page, and that you clicked the "Action button"

Out of Bundle rates and Wasps, the reason I will never go contract.

Here's a weasel article:

Hi

Thanks for the replies :)

I have lodged a complaint with WASPA and every one else. But yeah not going to leave it there. They did send me 'proof' that I am their 'costomer', can`t even spell customer on the 'official' document.

I have reversed my debit order with vodacom and told my banker that if they wish to remain my bank they will ensure Vodacom cant deduct from my account again. They can get the rest of the R9000 outstanding on my handset when they have refunded me my money, I can`t care less who Vodacom gave my money too, they took it. They take their percentage of each fraudulent transaction and then simply try to sidestep any responsibility for stealing their customers money.

I shall also be posting a nice headline on hello peter every 5 days along the lines of Vodacom Stealing customers money, just to make sure the PR hit is more than they cost me. Took 2 minutes out of my day to reverse their debit my orders, i`l undo some of their marketing efforts for the trouble. Any other ideas? I took 6 months off work to finish my degree so I have a lot of time to piss people off. Maybe criminal charges against the Vodacom directors? Would make a nice headline for a slow day at Beeld ;)
