Vodacom has cautioned the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) against intervening with mobile data prices, adding that the authority should adopt a "wait and see" approach to competition.

Because, you know, it's about "effective rate" ....

No, it should take an active approach to enable effective competition. We have waited too long and seen nothing.

Vodacom would say that, in the interest of continuing to exorbitantly ontinue profiteering. There however may just be a grain of truth in their assertion. Which they are basing their claim on, and ignoring all the fallacies ...

They were given emergency spectrum over Covid https://www.itweb.co.za/content/O2rQGMAnDVJqd1ea , while its claimed to be "Temporary" they have the opportunity to purchase it on auction, and chances are these temporary release of spectrum will remain in place till the auction happens.
That emergency spectrum isn't really usable as it's not continuous. They won't be purchasing the same spectrum on auction, whatever decade that happens.
