VodaCom - two sims, same number?

Hi folks
Apologies if this has been asked before, but I don't seem to be using good searching terms or it cannot find anything...

Signed up with VC ages ago. Each new phone, I just take sim out and put in new phone. Recently got an iphone 4 which needs a microsim. Went into AutoPage who organised a microsim right away. I told them I wanted the get a duplicate sim as I'd like to keep the current nokia phone and sim as I could not swap it given the change in form factor of the sim, and did not want to use the iPhone when out walking dog etc.

No problem they said so long as they were not both on at the same time.

Trouble is the new sim is still coming up with it's own number (ie not my old primary number).

So is it possible to have to sims with the SAME number or are they confused?

Yes, it is possible. It is called Twin Sim.

But actually finding anyone at Vodacom or a Vodashop who knows anything about it or which forms to give you to fill out is another matter.

Same with Call Sponsor.

It is advertised on their website, but just try to sign up for it. You would swear you were applying to be the man in the moon.

I had this before, but each sim stil has its own individual number, but no mater which of the numbers the person calls you it will only go to one of the numbers, only if that phon e is off will it go to the other phone

Thanks guys
Really wanted something like what I understand MTN offers - two sims, same number. They even seem to be able to be on together, but only the last switched on (or rather activated as being 'on' on the MTN network) gets the call. Dualcall or Dualsim or something...

I would not need both to be on at the same time. Happy to switch one of, other on.

Perhaps VC does not offer the same thing :(
Will try again with AutoPage...

Anyone know cost for the twin sim facility on vodacom? Is it just a sim purchase?

My story is the same. Why does my micro sim display the new number instead of my original one? The other device is off. It's confusion my contacts when I call or sms them!

All Twin Sim does, is forward all your calls and sms to the "other number" when you switch off your main number.

The main reason for this is to be able to answer calls, not so much to make calls. Think Jannie van Zyl told me once that they introduced it for people with car phones, but that it soon became popular for other uses as well.

So is this still an option?

Or has it been refined so that you can have two identical SIMs in two different phones as long as one is off?

No. The twin sim will still have a ghost/slave number.

Does anyone have updated info on this?

My contract is expiring end of the month so will get a new phone. I'm thinking of getting a Galaxy Note, but probably won't get such a big phone if it will be my only one. On the other hand, if I can have a Note and also keep my old phone for when I don't want to carry something massive with me, that will be first prize.

You can get twin call, but only one can be used at a time, and the last phone to register on the network is the one that will receive your calls. People get confused many times. Twin Call only available on normal contracts, not top up or prepaid.

Make sure they send you a new SIM card, FOC (free of charge), that fits the new phone (normal, micro or nano). If you don't take the new sim it will cost you a trip to a Vodacom store and R80+ for a sim card. The same sim card that costs prepaid 50cents.

Morning guys

Will this work?

My wife has had her old Samsung galaxy for a while now, and we went into VC yesterday and upgraded her contract to one of the iPad (data) deals that they are currently offering. What she would like to know (and the lady at VC was not too knowledgeable) is, will she be able to get another SIM to use in her new iPad, on the same contract, and keep the "old" SIM in her Samsung phone in order to make voice calls, and most importantly, not have to change her cell number? She is an attorney and has an established client base and would like to keep her cell number so as to not cause confusion among her clients? If this is possible, it will be a great help.

Thanks in advance!

My dad is on a Red Premium package. He has 2x data sims which he uses in a spare LUMIA for taking photo's and in his Tablet. The data usage comes off his monthly data allocation on his main Red Premium package sim.

I don't know if lower packages can have this activated though
