I have a requirement to use a lot of data at a location that only has Vodacom reception.

I took a look and it does not seem Vodacom offer any unlimited data plans. Is my understanding correct?

I'm not aware of any unlimited offers from Vodacom. Depending on your requirements/location, you may be better off investigating a wireless solution.

What other wireless solutions could be an option? The location is remote on the far Natal North Coast near Kosi Bay (as far as I can tell the only option we have is Vodacom - or satellite).

Point to point wireless links can operate well over substantial distances (15km with ease), assuming clear line of sight. I don't know the area so I have no idea whether your site is within range of another site that has internet access.

The location is very remote. Unfortunately I don't think this is an option.

Yeah, I just had a look on the map, it's in the middle of nowhere. I'm a little surprised that Vodacom have coverage in the area - for what reason? Just for holiday types? Are there no Telkom lines in the proximity?

No, no Telkom lines. We do have a VSAT solution from Telkom but it is very expensive hence I am looking for other options.

There are some local communities in the area and yes, some holiday makers / International guests that visit the area but still very remote.

Seems you're snookered. If you do consider Vodacom, just check if the local link does anything better than EDGE (in case you need faster). Some of the more remote towers don't even do 3G.

We offer 100GIG per month on Vodacom 3G/LTE network. If you are interested, let me know.
We can also look at a microwave Vodacom link if it available in your area. With those we offer uncapped and charge you for the speed you select.

What are the FUP's on those uncapped?

Pretty high. I think when I checked for a friend of mine it was like 300GIG. Let me see if I can find that mail from my PAM

And can you pay for a contract upfront?

You can make a manual payment into the Vodacom account, and it will be allocated as a credit note on the account, and invoices will eat away at that on a monthly basis untill such time that the credit note is used up.

IT says limit?

What do you get throttled to?

What are the Fair or Acceptable Usage Policy indicators?
The Vodacom AUP is designed to assist in protecting the Vodacom Network, the service, our Users and the Internet community as a whole from improper and/or illegal activity over the Internet, to improve service and to improve service offerings. As stipulated in this policy Vodacom reserves the rights to monitor usage and apply certain restrictions if need be.

Customers that reach their monthly usage limit will be placed in a scavenger class of bandwidth reserved for customers that have reached their limit for the month which could negatively affect their throughput depending on how many customers they have to contend with for the available bandwidth in the scavenger class. The monthly usage limit will reset at the start of every month. Please refer to the table below for the AUP limit indicators;
