How do I block a number from calling me? I have a person, who does not speak Afrikaans or English, missed calling me at all times of day and sending me please call me messages. I had 3 at 0600 this morning and close to 20 missed call yesterday. I answer the phone to spite the person, but they scream in some language I don't understand.

So, how do I get rid of this pest?

(what makes me angry is clearly that person should know, that I am not the person he is looking for, but he expects that after his 100th try another user he would like to speak to would magically answer)

Phone Vodacom and ask them to block the number, or get someone to call the person and tell them to bugger off.

My line once crossed with this other dudes line, his name was Gert.So you can just imagine how many poppies and hennies called men.

Was so ****en pissed, and I decided to use this line when answering my phone " ANC offices good day", that actually worked, they stopped.

That's nothing. I used to receive calls from a mysterious stranger who only spoke one of the ~7 native languages (don't ask me which). This woman would just start making conversation even though I didn't understand a word she said. As soon as I'd end the call, she'd call again.

I then started answering and leaving the phone alone while waiting for her to realize her mistake. About 30 minutes later she was still busy talking to herself!!! This went on for about 3 months!

@ Tiredofwaiting - bwahahahaha! Prolly a company phone... :)

Anyways, phone Vodacom and ask them to block that one number, they should be able to...

...and enjoy peace and quiet ;)

Got an incorrect call on Sunday morning at 1:45am ... just about hit the roof. Thought it was something serious. Poor lady on the other end didn't know what hit her :D

LOL
Get these all the time. They didn't happen much when I had a phone in Europe though (another topic).

I just pretend to be a bit mad and ramble in a made up language. They soon get tired of hearing it. If they are really pervasive, call them at 3am and repeat the procedure. That works best.:D

I got the solution... change to Virgin or CellC... that way you wont be able to get/make calls... and the problem will automatically be solved.

This guy "missed call" me, I think he wants me to phone him back. Every time I picked up he spoke for a few seconds only and put the phone down. Today except for this morning the idiot has been quiet.

I had an old cell phone, wrote a script in Linux to missed call people but to let it ring for under a second, but now I lost the cable to connect the phone to the PC, wanted to set it up to ring all night. :)

There was a time when you could ask them to make a quick call to the braindead person who is stalking you. They get a warning and then it stops. It sounds so simple, but I think Voda has become far too PC about this sort of thing.

I'm dumbfounded... I thought people clever enough to find this forum will be able to do a search on Google...

Be that as it may, there are very HANDY and BEST utilities that allows you to BLACKLIST numbers, even private calls, and it also blocks messages from that number. It gives a busy tone, so if calls are diverted to your voice mail when the phone is engaged that's what will happen...

Google it! (If you have a Symbian phone...)

And no, Vodacom does not block numbers, I tried...

Odd problem, you'd think they would give up? May be someone has promised the a pot of gold or owes them lots of money and given your number to them?

Call-me message can be stopped by using *140# and then SEND and follow the prompts. For some odd reason it doesn't block all of them.

May be answering the phone "South African Police Service information desk" might help?

I have one SIM thats used for testing cell phones (I'm in the trade) and only I and the network know this number... If by chance it rings I always answer "Hello wrong number" and I've never had repeat calls and never ever heard anyone speak! :)
