Vodacom voice - sometimes tin'y like Whatsapp calls

I have had a few calls today, both incoming, where the person on the other side sounded like they were talking to me across a low bandwidth VOIP connection, similar to Whatsapp voice calls...

Anyone else experienced this and why?

Probably becaus they were talking across a low bandwidth VOIP connection.
